Books

The museum in the two decades of it’s operation it has publish more than ten books regarding the thracian history and culture through the centuries.

Our purpose is to make E.M.T. a meeting point between the past the present and the future based on the history and culture of Thrace, a center of research and intellectual creation.

Our goal is to preserve what is most authentic about Thrace while showcasing the idiosyncratic and diverse cultural expression of the naturally ethnic groups of the region that is reflected daily and for centuries in its wider area.
The ethnological and historical material of the EMT which was collected with great effort and required a lot of time,we believe saves the local history and tradition as part of a dynamic, which is not only directed towards the past, but also helps to shape the future.

History

The Ethnological Museum of Thrace was created out of the need to preserve historical memory.
Beyond the aesthetic restoration of the material, the museum promotes the study, the promotion of the folk culture of Thrace so as to constitute a starting point for a reassessment of what is tradition. Historical research and documentation of our oral history and memory are a focal point of the museum’s strategic planning.
